Senator Monty Mason is a proud husband and father, a dedicated public servant, and an advocate for students, seniors, and veterans.




As our Senator, Monty has a track record of delivering results on the issues that matter to us most—like cutting costs for working families, investing in our education system, protecting reproductive rights, and fighting for gun violence reform. Since being elected to serve in the State Senate, Monty has passed over 90 bills that have been signed into law, making him one of the most effective members of the General Assembly.

Senator Monty Mason was elected to represent the 1st State Senate District in 2016, after two successful terms in the House of Delegates.

Before being elected into the State Senate in 2016, Monty served two terms in the Virginia House of Delegates representing Virginia’s 93rd House District. From his first day in office, Monty has been working diligently to better the lives of all Virginians, especially vulnerable communities like children, seniors, veterans, and the mentally ill.
Monty’s advocacy has delivered real results for families across the district—like successfully bringing the offshore wind industry to Virginia, securing millions in state tuition assistance for National Guard Members, and expanding the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel.
In the State Senate, Monty serves on the Commerce and Labor Committee, Privileges and Elections Committee, Rehabilitation and Social Services Committee, Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources Committee, and the General Laws and Technology Committee.
Monty also serves as Virginia’s legislative representative to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, and was appointed to the Jamestown Yorktown Foundation. He was reappointed to the Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission, the State Executive Council to the Office of Children’s Services, and the State Water Commission.


Prior to his election, Monty built a successful 25-year career in business and real estate with LandAmerica Finance Group and Visa, where he served as a Senior Director of Fraud Prevention and Risk Management. His unique professional experience has given him a deep understanding of the unique challenges facing Virginia and the skills necessary to address them.
A proud husband and father, Monty lives in Williamsburg with his wife Pamela, who works at the College of William and Mary, and their two daughters, Taylor Anne and Hawley.
